Phil DeFronzo, President
The Founder and CEO of Norcom Mortgage, Phil started the Company in the fall of 1989. Under his leadership, the Company has grown to become an upstanding and respected regional lender. While building his business, Phil also served as a Commissioner on the State of Connecticut Ethics Commission from 1991 to 1998, playing a key role in overseeing registered lobbyists in the enforcement of the State of Connecticut Ethics Code. In October of 2013, Phil was appointed to join the Residential Board of Governors, the governing body for the Mortgage Bankers Association's single-family residential members. Phil's hands-on style has earned him numerous accolades for optimizing internal operations and building outstanding customer service. He takes great satisfaction in the team he has built at Norcom Mortgage, saying, "I get to work with a great group of very talented and funny people." Phil lives in Avon, Connecticut with his wife, Colleen, and their three children.
James Morin, Senior Vice President, Retail Lending
James joined Norcom Mortgage in January of 2009. A ten-year veteran of the mortgage industry, James serves as the Company's Senior Vice President of Retail Lending. He has been instrumental in leading the strategic expansion of Norcom Mortgage production and is in charge of Norcom Mortgage's retail platform, including the inside and outside sales departments, marketing, strategic planning, and product development, as well as training and overseeing the sales staff. James was drawn to the mortgage industry by both the challenges it presents and the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives; with degrees in Management Information Systems and Finance from the University of Connecticut, the mortgage industry was a perfect fit. He is an active member of the MBA, MMBA, FAMP, ECAR, and GWBR. Leaders in the industry regularly seek James's expertise, as he serves on several advisory boards, including the MBA and CMBA Loan Production Committees and Progress in Lending, a leading national mortgage technology publication. James has also recently been appointed to sit on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association.
Mike Dimech, Senior Vice President, Chief Operations Officer
Mike Dimech joins Norcom Mortgage with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Most of his background lies with underwriting; however, he also has experience with closing, post-closing and secondary market. He has been in several managerial roles since 2005. His first managerial position was working as an operations manager for Citi Mortgage in which he was able to grow an office of 17 employees to 45 employees within 6 months. Mike resides in Cheshire with his wife and their four children.
Greg Radding, Vice President, Retail Lending
Greg Radding joined Norcom Mortgage in 2011. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Bryant University. Greg was drawn to the mortgage industry because he enjoys helping people achieve home ownership and finds that his position and the culture at Norcom Mortgage afford him that opportunity. In addition to serving customers, Greg most enjoys the experience of mentoring Norcom's sales force. Greg is an active member of the mortgage industry and has recently served as a 2013 Greater Hartford Board of Realtors guest panelist.
Tyler Rhea, AVP, Business Development
Tyler Rhea joined Norcom Mortgage in 2009 and now serves as Assistant Vice President of Business Development. From Canton, Connecticut, Rhea received his BA from St. Michael's College in Vermont and a MBA in business from Suffolk University in Boston. He is a licensed NMLS mortgage originator and an active member of both the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Banker Associations, as well as the Chairman of the Connecticut Future Leaders Committee. Rhea began his career at Norcom Mortgage as a Wholesale Account Executive, building strong partnerships with mortgage brokers and bankers throughout New England. In 2012, he was the top producing AE in the company, with over $100 million in closed volume. Rhea was then promoted to Retail business Development manager, charged with growing our Retail Presence throughout Norcom's 26 licensed states. Rhea's business ethics are based on hard work and a talent for building honest and trusting relationships: "My key to success is treating each business relationship like a friendship." Rhea resides in Canton with his wife, and enjoys playing golf and following Boston sports in his spare time.
Stephen Harris, Retail Business Development Manager
Steve Harris joined Norcom in October 2015 as a Retail Business Development Manager. Over his 25 years of experience with selling and business development, he became known and admired for his ability to build trusting and valued partnerships that last. He credits this with having clear, effective communication, along with setting realistic expectations and always following through, while having fun in the process. "I am proud to have joined the Norcom Family and I'm excited to share the great opportunities that Norcom has to offer that can take someone's career to the next level." When Steve is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Sharon, and their four kids. In addition, he enjoys organizing the Dober Invitational Charity Golf Tournament and Dinner Dance, which is going on its 27th year.
Gerald A. Gordon, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
Gerald A. Gordon joined Norcom as its Director of Compliance and soon after also became its Associate General Counsel. Gerry is now Norcom's General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Gerry joined Norcom with significant experience as an attorney with several New York and Connecticut based law firms serving the financial services industry and corporate clients. Gerry graduated from Brooklyn Law School where he was a member of the Journal of Law and Policy publishing a comment entitled IOLA & Professional Responsibility in the Shadow of Washington Legal Foundation v. Texas Equal Access to Justice Foundation. Gerry later served as an Executive Notes and Comments Editor for the Journal. Prior to law school, Gerry graduated from Bucknell University with a B.A. in Political Science.
